Eating disorders can be of three kinds: Bulimia, Anorexia and Binge Eating. All of the three cause harmful effects on the body and can have traumatic effects, psychologically. Society playing a powerful role along with the media, sends out the message that a thin body can attract success and happiness whereas anyone else cannot. People, especially women, are portrayed as thin and skinny with the technological advancement of photo graphical skills and editing.
This has given rise to a lot of health concerns and eating disorders. A person with an eating disorder has a very distorted image of themselves. They might perceive themselves as too fat. They also go through the psychological torture of not being able to enjoy anything that they eat, and if they do, they feel guilty after.
Eating disorders can cause low self esteem, low self confidence and constant shame. Along with this, stress and anxiety also floats with depression. Having an eating disorder is not a matter of fun and needs support and help to get out off. While friends might seem a good option, it is not every time that they will spend quality time to listen to your concerns and guide you in an appropriate manner. Our friends already have a biased opinion about us and might not be able to look at it objectively.
